The Nokia X20 feels pretty big, mainly because of its large screen. It has a plastic body, and we tried out a version with a bronze hue. The rear has a circular camera bump, which has become a staple for Nokia phones, with the Zeiss logo in the middle.
There’s a side-mounted fingerprint scanner embedded in the power button on the right edge, with the volume rocker just above it. The scanner is a little high, but depending on your hand size you might reach it fine. The phone also has a USB-C port and 3.5mm headphone jack, and on the left edge there’s a Google Assistant button.
- Tech Radar: Nokia X20 Design and display - April 08, 2021.

The Nokia X20 is a reasonably well designed handset with good battery life, dual SIM support, 5G and a no-frills Android 11 installation, with three years of security updates guaranteed. For all that, it doesn't really do enough to earn a top spot in the competitive mid-range 5G segment. The screen is an IPS panel with 60Hz refresh, the cameras are average, and there's no fast or wireless charging. Unfortunately, the Nokia's eco-credentials aren't, on their own, enough to gain the X20 a recommendation.
- ZDNET : Nokia X20 Conclusions - May 27, 2021.

The Nokia X20 is another solid, reliable handset from HMD Global – but, ultimately, we have to question its value. It’s well built, offers excellent two-day battery life, a decent main camera, plus its take on Android is refreshingly free of clutter. We can also get onboard with Nokia’s above-and-beyond commitment to software updates. However, its display and processor appear to belong to a significantly lower category of phone, resulting in a day-to-day experience that’s decidedly below par.
- Trusted Reviews : Nokia X20 Final Thoughts - June 30, 2021.

After launching its first 5G phone last year, Nokia once more finds itself in familiar low-cost territory with the Nokia X20. Its modest list of specifications includes a Qualcomm Snapdragon 480, a choice of 6GB or 8GB of RAM, 128GB of expandable storage and a 6.67in 60Hz FHD+ display. It also has a 64MP primary camera, which sits alongside a 5MP ultrawide unit and a pair of 2MP depth and macro sensors.
The Nokia X20 comes pre-installed with a stock version of Android 11, with three years of monthly security updates and a three-year extended warranty. There’s no wall charger in the box, but Nokia does include a USB-C charging cable as well as a compostable case that looks a bit like a terrazzo kitchen tile. Speaking of which, Nokia has also partnered with tree-planting charity Ecologi. Should you buy a Nokia X20, you can register the phone's IMEI number and Ecologi will plant 20 trees in your name. You’ll get an email letting you know where these trees are located and receive regular updates.
